550 5.4.5: Daily user sending limit exceeded
Your own Google account sent as much as Google allows in a day. Google refuses more until the limit resets.
Wait and try again You hit your own sending limit
Your Gmail account reached its daily sending limit.
- Sent by: Gmail / Google Workspace
- Permanent (hard bounce) by its code, so your mail system will not retry by itself. The cause passes: a new message later can get through.
How Gmail words it (source):
Daily user sending limit exceeded.
Why it happens
- A mailing or mail merge from a Gmail or Google Workspace mailbox.
- An app or website that sends through your Gmail account (SMTP) and sent more than usual.
- Someone else is using your account.
What to do
- Wait up to 24 hours. Google says the limit is counted over a rolling 24 hours.
- Check the Sent folder for mail you did not send; if there is any, change your password.
- For larger mailings use an email service made for bulk sending. A Gmail mailbox is not meant for it.
Don't confuse it with
Microsoft's codes for the same situation are 550 5.1.90 and 550 5.2.2 Submission quota exceeded.
Questions
Are the addresses I wrote to bad?
